Connecting to DUMII and Getting Started

To play DUMII, use a mud client and connect to dum.acc.umu.se 2001, you can also try the Java Telnet Applet here or our flash client soiled.
 
Once you have connected, you will be asked for your character's name and password. If you wish to look around without creating a character first, use Guest. No password is required.
 
If you wish to create a new character, enter the name you would like your character to be known as, and if it does not already exist, the game will create it for you. You will then be asked to enter a password, and to confirm it. Remember your password, as you will need it every time you log in. You will also be asked which sex you wish your character to be, and whether or not you want Ansi switched on. You may change your password at any given time within the game, as well as your ansi status.
 
Please keep in mind that this is a fantasy game, so the name that you choose for your character should be a fantasy one. Do not choose a name that exists in the real world, nor a name that is an existing word. Rather create a name that is unique, one that will fit in with a fantasy world. If you choose an inappropriate name, you will be asked to choose another one when you apply to be registered. It will save you and the admins a lot of time if you choose a good name from the start.
 
Once you have logged in, you will find yourself in the Centre of the World. Feel free to ask those around you for advice, but keep in mind that most of the information that you will need is readily available in the help files. Read those before you get started, and you will have a very good idea of how the game works. It is also very important that you read the rules of DUMII, because ignorance of the rules will not be a good enough excuse if you are caught cheating.
